Starting from Rimbaud’s poetry, we have tried to project ourselves in a space that could have been the very depths of the world, a space of loneliness and thought that would make voice and speech much more profound.
We are inside Rimbaud’s mind, we are listening to his inner voice, to the impulses of his soul, to his memories and despairs – a mental space, abstract, but made of elements coming from Rimbaud’s everyday life and memories.
We made the choice of a quite simple stage design, handing over to the actor’s voice and possibly resonating, at the same time, with the different sets of themes explored by the text: Travels, sea, solitude, as well as... Hell...
